‘Unsafe’ vehicle impounded
POLICE say a vehicle intercepted in Beaufort in early March was one of the most unsafe vehicles they’d ever seen.

Over the Labour Day long weekend, Beaufort Police members were patrolling the highway as part of Operation Arid.
On Friday the 6th of March, they intercepted a Mazda CX-3 in order to conduct a random breath test and licence check.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, members discovered what they say was one of the most unsafe and obscure repairs they had seen in their combined careers.
One brake disc was completely missing and one brake line was clamped with a set of vice grips.
The driver told police he was travelling to a music festival.
After conducting a check of the driver's licence, it was confirmed that the man was disqualified from driving a motor vehicle and should not have been behind the wheel.
The vehicle was impounded for a period of 30 days and with towing costs of $1000.
