Truck finally freed

A B-double truck that went down an embankment in a freak accident in Skipton has finally been freed. The accident happened at about 4.30pm on November 13 near Stewart Park, while the driver was inside a nearby Caltex service station. The grain truck came to rest at the bottom of a billabong on the Glenelg Highway on Thursday afternoon. It was a difficult operation to salvage the truck, with grain having to be siphoned before a rescue could be attempted. The truck was finally freed on Saturday. Police say the driver had gone into the Caltex Service Station when the truck apparently rolled down the hill.
