Seven beautiful gardens open today
GARDEN lovers will have the opportunity to explore some of Stawell’s most beautiful private gardens this Sunday, with the Stawell Hospital Auxiliary hosting its annual Open Gardens Day.
The event will feature seven distinctly individual gardens, each offering visitors something different to admire, from established garden settings to unique planting styles and creative outdoor spaces.
The Open Gardens Day is an important fundraiser for the Stawell Hospital Auxiliary, with all proceeds going towards purchasing equipment and other items for Stawell Hospital.
Visitors can collect their garden map from the Stawell Neighbourhood House in Sloane Street from 10am on Sunday, November 8.
Tickets are $25 per person, providing access to all seven gardens.
There will also be an opportunity to enjoy some refreshments throughout the day, with food and drink vendors setting up in the Neighbourhood House carpark.
Milk n Beans, Uncle Jums Baked Potatoes and Anglasia Gelato and Soft Serve will all be on hand to keep visitors refreshed.
The day promises to be a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of local gardens, catch up with friends and support the Stawell Hospital Auxiliary and its ongoing contribution to the local health service.
Auxiliary Treasurer Merrilyne Middleton said people attending on Sunday are in for a treat.
“They are all very diverse. A couple of them are quite spacious but a couple are just ordinary town hardens. They are all quite different,” Ms Middleton said.
“We really appreciate the people who allow us into their gardens. It’s a big thing for people to come into their backyards and most people thank us afterwards because they get all of the small jobs done around their garden.
“The gardens are looking beautiful. So let’s hope the weather is good,” she said.
