Prison expansion to start, but there’s a hitch
WORK is about to commence on an expansion of the Hopkins Correctional Centre although specific details aren’t immediately clear. The Ararat Advocate understands the government is planning a $94 million expansion of the prison as part of its push for 1,000 additional places for prisoners state-wide.
Equipment is in place for the commencement of work at Hopkins Correctional Centre.
