Olive branch grows
THE Ararat Olive Branch Church of Christ is preparing for a significant transformation, with a six-month renovation project that began on July 6.
The works mark not just a physical upgrade but a renewed commitment to serving the broader Ararat community.
Described by Pastor Kevin Tanan as “a project rooted in vision, necessity, and a deep commitment to serving the wider community,” the renovations will include key improvements like an upgraded stage, enhanced worship and sound booth area, a larger kitchen and café space, more restrooms, improved insulation and acoustics, and additional natural lighting.
“The building is intended to be more than a meeting place. It’s a space for community, where individuals and families can experience restoration, peace, and transformation through Christ,” Pastor Kevin said.
While the works are underway, Olive Branch services will temporarily relocate to Ararat College, a familiar site for the congregation.
The church previously met there in 2018 during its early stages, a time that proved foundational to its growth.
“In mid-2018, we had the privilege of meeting at Ararat College as Olive Branch was still finding its footing,” Pastor Kevin said.
Since then, Olive Branch has grown from a small gathering of 25-30 worshippers into a vibrant community of around 100 members, supporting initiatives in Ararat, Stawell, Ballarat, and the local home school network.
The church community is once again thankful to Ararat College for its hospitality.
“In a time where partnership and goodwill are more valuable than ever, Ararat is being reminded that some stories really do come full circle,” Pastor Kevin added.
During the transition period, all are warmly welcome to attend Olive Branch Church services, held at Ararat College every Sunday at 10am.
