MossKosh takes flight

ARARAT and District Aeromodellers Club is gearing up for its biggest weekend of the year – the annual MossKosh. The MossKosh is named after a former club President Moss Heard whose ethos was “having fun while flying”. The annual event draws aeromodeller enthusiasts and their planes from across Victoria and South Australia.

Ararat and District Aeromodellers Club are expecting a good turnout at this weekend’s MossKosh.

Club committee member Rick Pimblott said the committee has planned an action packed weekend.

“It’s about getting together and having some fun.

“It’s also an opportunity for visitors to come along and see what aeromodellers do and the planes we fly,” he said.

The event will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 9am until dark.

Mr Pimblott said he’s expecting a strong crowd.

“At this stage I’ve got 25 pilots pre-registered and if we get all of those guys, they’ve normally got two to three aircraft each so there could possibly be 40 to 60 aircraft out there plus others who haven’t registered.”

The club has extended an invitation to the community to come along and see some superb demonstrations of model aircraft in flight.

“A lot of the weekend will depend on weather, but even if it’s windy there will still be something up in the air.

“There will be all sorts of aircraft, anything from turbines to little electric park fliers and everything in-between,” Mr Pimblott said.

The MossKosh will be held at the Ararat District Aeromodellers Club headquarters at 240 Warrak Road Ararat this Saturday and Sunday the 15th and 16th of November with lunch available both days.

Entry is a gold coin donation.
