Belcher rewarded for consistent season
Rats’ under-14 footballer Ryder Belcher has finished runner-up in the Wimmera Football Netball League’s best and fairest, held at Horsham City Oval on Monday night.

Belcher polled 29 votes and was three behind the winner, Evan George from Warracknabeal. Belcher’s teammate, Patrick Harrington, finished third on 28 votes.
Belcher had a brilliant year for Ararat, kicking 44 goals and was named in the best players on 13 out of 16 occasions.
Patrick Harrington capped off a good year in the under-17s, finishing third on 19 votes, one behind runner-up Jobe Dickinson from Nhill, and four behind winner Bodey Wilde from the Horsham Saints. Rats’ Rishi Kalluri finished ninth on 13 votes.
Rats’ Ari Strafehl finished tenth in the 13-and-under netball on 14 votes, which was won by Horsham Demons’ Luella Burke on 34 votes.
Rats’ Evie Harrington finished fourth in the 15-and-under netball, polling 24 votes. Olivia Taylor from the Horsham Saints won on 29.
In the 17-and-under netball, Poppy Toner finished fifth on 21 votes, six behind the winner, Lena Marshman from the Horsham Saints.
